Year Vini d'Italia was held in Copenhagen, which started to equip itself to receive the spring with open arms. This year was the policy's house at the Town Hall which hosted the event and proved to work well for this purpose, although last year's Tivoli locality reached a higher comfort factor. Saturday's lunch passes was well attended, but without becoming congested, free-or scuffle, it was easy to at all the booths and visitors showed up an exemplary festival etiquette, which means that they get their glasses filled, notes a few quick words with the importer and the slopes then removed so that the next person arrive.
intensity of the wines were generally very high, vintages 2006, 2007 and 2008 has proven to be good in most parts of Italy, and the geographical range was nicely mixed with everything from Trentino Traminer the Etna-nerello .
It is always difficult to find the approach best suited for this type of assembly-line testing - will be the beta of the district, grapes and types of wine with some sort of predetermined methodology, or should I invest in clean freeblowing and just see what happens? I went in to run freely, but took some inspiration for the evaluation of this old FV-mail , although it applies to behavior in a blind test context, but that can work quite well in one like this passport overwhelming situation that is actually a festival scenario is:
Do I like the wine? Why? Is it made with the emphasis on fruit, terroir and aging wine? Incredibly relevant criteria as it obviously should always ask but rarely does.
notes became However, very sporadic, and probably only to the delight of myself, but one or two gems / pole shot, I dare to share.
We tried a whole flock barbera and top spot on the podium shared between Barbera d'Alba Santa Rosalia 2009 (Brezza) and Barbera Sori del Drago 2008 (Brovia). Two really clean and fresh wines in a sparkling light fruity style that has spent Growing up in stainless steel. Superbly delicious with both charm and depth, Brezza Santa Rosalia in 2009, we will definitely fill up with - Casing Edwin sells for around Danish dog ring.
Another charmer was Petroios Fattoria Chianti Classico 2007, lovely sötfruktig nose which wastes strawberry fruit and morello, a height archi anti. Really good Rosso di Montalcino is found in La Manella in 2007: a round, rich and generous, it seems almost impossible to go wrong among the Tuscan 2007: hands. Both are in Le Papillon where you also find the wonderful wines from Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo. Colline Novaresi Agamium 2005 is a simple and healthy nebbiolo with sleek minerality and real isterspräckarsyror, Ghemme Collis Breclemae 2000 is their top wine with a complexity and a finlir which unfortunately did not come to the right of fair electoral events - heady stuff though!
Carlo Merolli was in place and had gone its own way with a bunch of Lambrusco, which was a welcome refreshing element. My favorite was Stopai 2010 with abundant fruit and perfect frizzante as well as served up an imaginary picnic right before your eyes us, with birds singing, cool shade, checkered cloth and chicken salad - an absolute must that we'll soon climb up the long, relaxed and languorous warm vinsommarsäsongen.
Theis Vine showed a strong range where Bruno Giacosa Valmaggiore 2008 Coppo Barbera d'Asti l'Avvocata 2007 and Accordinis Ripasso 2008 made an impression - three hearty, fit and undisguised matviner of high class. Jermanns Chardonnay 2009 stunned with its pinot grigio-meets-arneis-aromatik, fresh citrus and pears in a sweet mellow style.
Another very nice chianti-acquaintance was La Spinosa whose Chianti Colli Fiorentini 2007 pulses of juicy acidity with a lazy fruit bordering on the frivolous, and it would be even worse: Riservan Prunaiolo 2006 was a particularly extroverted crowdpleaser that pushed all the right buttons and was easy to love. Very good stuff Casing Edwin sell.
Disappointments as be mentioned is Cagiorgnas Etna Rosso N * Anticchia 2007 seemed a bit too simple to match the price of 369DKK, reminded almost on a somewhat overworked TdTN normale. Monsanto Chianti Classico 2007 performed well and felt again, although a bit toned down label, while their pure cabernet sauvignon Nemo IGT in 2006 was far too anonymous, would almost have come from any continent at any time. The first thing you ask when you get to Nemo in your mouth is: Why?
As for Fora Doris Teroldego Rotaliano 2006 I can authenticate Ingvar's testimony if a large fire tone that I linked up with an intense fatprägel, shame on an otherwise nice wine.
Fèlsina Fontalloro 2007 is definitely worthy of mention, in fabulous sangiovese extracted style but with elegance and almost perfect balance. Barolo Giachini 2006 from La Morra producer Giovanni Corino was also a wine well suited in this context.
Another difficult issue, a day like this, arises when you come home and wonder: What we drink to käket tonight? No Italian, we agree on and immediately stand a Cotes-du-Rhone 2007 from Saint Cosme on the table. For the grill pan fried lamb roasting steak, it is well OK but all sötsliskig fruit, medicinal herbs and the power of the mouth turn over a little, you get tired as well, you want to open a barber ...
